Charming friendly hosts and first rate cuisine. The poached soft-boiled egg looks simple, but is fiendishly difficult to prepare correctly and was utterly delicious, as was the aubergine semi- soufflé. The pasta was properly al dente, the shrimp with aspic was new to me and a delight. My fish---a kind of supercharged mackerel--was suitably succulent and the rack of lamb was superb. The desserts were exotic without being frightening, and the wine was very well chosen. Bravi to those who made this dinner such an agreeable experience.
