Excellent, delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and a great service. It was a very good experience for a extremely reasonable price. However, they did include in the bill some bread we didn?t ask for (we thought it was courtesy, turns out it wasn?t) and a 12 % for the service. I wouldn?t have mind to give that 12 % if they had ask for it, but it was an ugly gesture (specially since tips are not customary in Europe) to include that 12 % without even mentioning beforehand.

Great bread selection with truffles. Green tomato pasta excellent. House wine excellent and grape sampling excellent. Decor excellent.

One the best restraints in Rome . 3 generations beginning in 1920 by the current owner Danielle grandfather . 3000 bottle wine cellar . We enjoyed a very romantic dinner with fresh pasta , ravioli with ginger & truffles , followed by roasted Guinea fowl with ginger & fennel . My rack of lamb was superb , slow oven roasted . Wines were exquisite . 2000 Nobilo was brilliant . Quiet , Cosy with personalized attention to service standards of the highest level . Only 20 covers but really worthwhile . Wine & food at extremely reasonable prices . 11/10

If you are Tourist ! Do not ever dare to GO there! Please read my experience in this restaurant and you will know why you should avoid this place by all means and it will never even cross your mind to go to there! We decided to choose this restaurant as lots of the dishes had truffles in it and we thought it is something they specialise in. We should have known something is wrong from the beginning as the place was deserted with no one inside! I've ordered a house special -home made pasta with truffles (24euro), my husband ordered meat with truffles (18e). When the dishes arrived there was not single truffle in them and my pasta was covered with black pepper seeds instead!!!! My husband dish didn't have a single truffle either. The waitress / cook / chef claimed ? she is not cooking this dish with truffles, despite the fact they market this dish with truffles on the menu ! We got really annoyed and ask the owner to explain. Firstly she claimed the black thing on pasta are truffles, then she claimed they disappeared while cooking, at the end she did say that's her style of cooking an there isn't anything she can do. After while she came with truffles preserved in oil and wanted to add them, but we refused as it?s TOTALLY different taste, if she cooked with fresh truffles from scratch. Really JOKE! We were put off and decided she should take the dishes away. Then the bill has arrived and SHE HAS CHARGED US A FULL PRICE FOR THE DISHES WE DID NOT EVEN TRY!. I was really at the boiling point but was definitely not prepared for what has happened next! Typical Italian style there was 4euro charge for the bread and 5euro for water and we decided that's it what we will pay for. My husband went to settle the bill and explain our reasons while I went outside to make a phone call and take some fresh air. At that moment she locked the automatic door and my husband inside the restaurant leaving me outside! Then she called THE POLICE and claimed we were trying to escape without paying a bill!! I was left outside for 40 minutes till the police arrived and I knocked on the doors for several times asking her to let me in as I want to use the toilet. IM 4MONTHS PREGNANT AND SHE WOULDN'T EVEN LET ME IN but left me outside without map, money or anything!!!, the police arrived , they did not speak a single word in English, did not even bother to ask my husband what has happened exactly and forced us to pay the bill!!! I'm advising you not to go even near that place as it ruined our day and the whole experience in Rome. We will not be coming back to papa Giovanni , neither to Rome! This restaurant deserves to be CLOSED so no one ever has to experience what we did and go through the same STRESS AND HUMILIATION!

takes you back to old time rome of the 50's. decor lhas not changed, but service if very personal and particular. food continues to be good.
