Trattoria Don Giovanni Roma

The main reason why I'm giving this 1 star is simple: I strongly suspect that the waiter/restaurant was dishonest with us (apparently not a first for them, judging by the other reviews). The situation: we decided to go in because at the door they had a cardboard ad stating (in english) that we could get the lunch menu (starter+pasta/pizza+drink+coffee) for 12?. We sat down and when the waiter came we asked for the lunch menu, to which he replied (half mumbling) "That menu is not for today.". Now, this was a regular Friday, no holiday or anything like that. Pretty sure it qualified as lunchtime too (12:45). Above all, it was a cardboard ad: if it was not for that day, why keep it there, next to the door for everyone to see? So yeah, I'm pretty sure we were scammed (we ended up paying 25? for two of the cheapest pasta dishes on the menu - no starters, drinks or coffees). Besides, the waiter was somewhat rude throughout the whole meal (maybe he took offence at my earlier question?). The food was OK. If my rating was based solely on that, it would have been 3 stars, I guess.

Caraduras y maleducados! Desde ponerte comida que no has pedido, a no venir a la mesa ni para cobrar. Parece mentira que un país que vive del turismo trate así a sus huespedes. Si no fuera por su historia se morirían de asco. Entramos a pedir 4 platos de pasta y salimos por patas escandalizados por el trato recibido y el robo soportado. Nos ofrecieron un entrante que se suponía que eran unas tostis con tomate y nos enchufaron el gran frito giovanni q lo comimos pensando que era un detalle de la casa (7 especies de croquetas/buñuelos que las prepararía mejor mi hija de 10 años: 16 eur). Mis hijos pidieron rigatone boloñesa y les traen fetuccini y cuando les decimos que no era eso lo que habían pedido, el camarero ya no entiende y nos suelta los platos en la mesa y se larga.... Imprestables y chorizos! LADRI!!!!!!

Nel luglio 2016 abbiamo scoperto questo posto , ottima cucina ottimo servizio con personale informale e prezzi nella media . Tornato a Roma quest'anno mi sono diretto subito alla ricerca di questo

Dirty place. Food was ok, but we were so hungry we couldn't tell, really. Waiter tried to force us to give a big tip.

Pessimo. AVOID. Cibo di bassa qualità troppo costoso. Low quality food and it's not cheap

Venerdì 10 Settembre ore 20 - Una delle prime trattorie che abbiamo provato all'inizio del nostro viaggio alla scoperta delle trattorie storiche di Roma. L'indirizzo lo abbiamo preso dal libro "101 hosterie e trattorie di Roma". Posto molto bello se si mangia fuori: si vede Castel Sant'Angelo e ci si siede a pochi metri dal Ponte Sant'Angelo. Dentro il locale è carino, affrescato da un pittore russo che pagavi i pasti della trattoria, con le sue opere. Oltre alle pizze, ci sono i piatti della tradizione romana ed altri classici. Noi abbiamo preso: 1 bruschetta al pomodoro 1 carciofo alla giudia 1 carbonara 1 maltagliati all'arrabiata con ricotta 1 gnocchi al pomodoro La bruschetta era buona, il pane casareccio e pomodorini tagliati a dadini e bel conditi, il carciofo era un po' duro...ma chissà da dove veniva..non è tempo di carciofi a settembre... La carbonara era abbondante ma invece del gunaciale, mi sembrava fatta con la pancetta.... Buoni i maltagliati e gli gnocchi anche se non ci sembravano fatti in casa. Conto: 45 euro un po' altino...soprattutto perchè lo scontrino era già stato arrotondato a 50, aggiungiendo 5 euro per il servizio. Insomma siamo stati bene, ma non lo consiglierei se non per la posizione.
